Uganda’s incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has registered a commanding early lead from yesterday’s presidential poll compared to his closest rival FDC’s Dr. Kizza Besigye.
The Electoral Commission this morning released the second batch of results from 6448 polling stations (representing 23%) out of the total expected 28010 polling stations in the country. The results show that Museveni has so far polled 1, 961 votes representing 61.75% of the total votes received.
Dr. Besigye is trailing incumbent Yoweri Museveni by more than 600, 000 votes at 738,628 votes representing 33.47% of the total number of voters so far received.
Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi is in a distant third position with 41,291 votes representing 1.87%, slightly ahead of three time presidential contender Dr. Abed Bwanika who has garnered 22,180 votes representing just one percent.
Prof. Venancius Baryamureba has 0.69%, Kyalya Waluube has 0.58%, Benon Biraaro has 0.33% while Joseph Mabiriizi is in eight position with 0.31%.
