Following the 2019 Media Sports Gala draws on Thursday, The Sunrise football team will face Nation Media’s Spark TV, Swift Sports, Bilal FM and CMC in Group D.

The one day event is slated for Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Mandela National Stadium. Thirty media houses will compete in Football, Netball and Athletics.

Football teams have been placed in six groups in the seven aside gala. The top two teams from each group will qualify to the round of sixteen.

“We will try to play a fast game,” said The Sunrise’s Coach Daniel Muwanula, a former Uganda Super League player with Posta FC.

Netball will be played in round robin format (all contestants face each other). Athletics will feature in sprints and relays of 400m, 200m, 4×100 for men and 4×100 for women. There will be 4×100 mixed relay too.

Sponsors of the event are Betway, Legends Events and Hospitality, Mandela Group, City Ambulance, Uganda Breweries and Mandela National Stadium among others. The winning teams will take trophies and other prizes

“The tournament is for Media employees and any team that will field mercenaries will be penalized,” the tournament director, Patrick Kanyomozi, warned.

To further spice up the event, the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) will play the Uganda Media Owners Association (UMOA) and Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) will play against the Uganda Advertisers’ Association (UAA).

Popular Musicians will be among the entertainers. Gates will be open at 8:00am. Entrance is free.
