Hundreds of people living and working in Kajjansi Town Council 8km along Entebbe road this morning armed themselves with brooms, slashers, spades and rakes to clean the town ahead of this year’s kick-off of the Bika Football Tournament slated for Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

It was apparent that the reason for the conspicuous display of passion and enthusiasm had more to do with the anticipated appearance or perhaps a stop-over at the town by the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, who is expected to officiate the kick-off.

The show of love for the Kabaka was facilitated by the accompanying entertainment that was provided by volunteers.

At one secretarial bureau in Kajjansi, shop owners could not hide their happiness when they saw police officers and well-respected men and women pick up rubbish from in front of their shops.

The popular football tournament is an annual event that pits 52 clans of Buganda in a fierce competition.

The kick-off of this year’s tourney will see Lugave play Mpindi at Lawrence Mulindwa’s St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Last year, Ente (Cow) clan were crowned the tournament winners after they beat Ffumbe clan by one goal to nil.
