Hope of Children and Women (HOCW) staff together with Buganda kingdom and the local leaders on 25, September had a general cleaning at Ndejje central in a program dubbed ‘Bulungi Bwansi’.

According to the Executive Director HOCW John Bolingo Nthira the exercise went on well.

“Ndejje central community members were very happy seeing us clean their homes, and road areas in general that pleased them so much,” he said

Bolingo spoke about urban farming and encouraged the community members to embrace it.

“HOCW is offering a training to those interested and will give out seedlings as well for all sorts of vegetable to enable us live a self-reliant life rather than buying and begging yet we can afford it by our own self,” he said

He also encouraged the Ndejje community to introduce smaller practical skills youths during the lockdown season.

“Children should be taught different skills while at home rather than the class room lessons only for our own betterment and to be self-reliant especially during this pandemic seasonal lockdown. These skills include; tailoring, farming skills, baking and training youth on skills work like making pavers etc.” he added

Isaac Baliruno who is the in charge of ‘Bulungi Bwansi’ in Buganda Kingdom also urged the Ndejje community to form small groups of associations (SACCOs)

“These can benefit you financially, morally and economically that can improve our standards of living,” he noted

Adding: “You should further encourage team work amongst yourselves so that you can prosper in life.”
