The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has directed that all institutions working for Buganda Kingdom, with the exception of its media outlets CBS and BBS, across the country will close until April 14, 2020 in a bid to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

While addressing journalists at the Kingdom headquarters at Bulange-Mengo, Kitikiro Charles Peter Mayiga relayed Kabaka’s directive and explained that only a few critical staff members will be allowed to return on that date but that the rest will have to wait until the country is declared free of the disease.

The Katikiro however, appealed to the general public to always seek information regarding coronavirus from credible sources other than the untrue information that at times makes rounds on social media.

“It is important for all of us to get information from credible sources. The Ministry of Health has done a good job on updating the public on the pandemic. WHO through its website is also giving proper information,” said Katikiro Mayiga.

Mayiga further appealed to Ugandans to not panic and never to lose hope in the process of preventing the pandemic.
