Kampala. City business man and Pharmacist identified as Isaac Mutabaazi is reportedly on the run following a series of attacks subjected to him, his business and close associates over claims that they are financing People Power pressure group.
It is understood that Mr Mutabaazi was initially attacked at his Pharmacy in Munyonyo a Kampala City Surburb on date 20th August 2019,and badly beaten by unknown gun Men and ransacked his pharmacy, and took with them the day’s sales of about 1.8m Ugx
A source that seeks anonymity indicate that Mr Mutabaazi has been a subject of security investigation as the government tries to contain the bludgeoning youthful People Power political pressure. The source further intimated to this reporter that Mr. Mutabazi was being known by security for offering financial assistance to several members of the People Power including paying legal costs for People Power detainees.
Recently, 15th November 2019, Mr Mutabaazi was attacked at his home in Najjeera Wakiso district where un-identified gunmen broke into his house in the middle of the night and badly battered him together with his wife. Mr. Mutabaazi narrowly escaped after offering the gunmen money to spare his life.
An impeccable source indicated that Mr Mutabaazi has been a target of security operatives and government spies who have been tracking city tycoons and businessmen suspected of funding political unrest by the People power movement enthusiasts, mostly unemployed youths from around Kampala’s surburbs.
Due to the series of attacks ,Mr.Mutabaazi told this newspaper that he feels very unsafe and is always on the run because he fears to be subjected to inhuman treatment, humiliation before his family, and continuous violence from government operatives. Mr. Mutabaazi says he has reported these cases to the Police who have been largely unhelpful, often asking ridiculous questions and bribes to even investigate the case.
