The last couple of days, and possibly a few more to come have been a bumper time for some names in Uganda’s entertainment industry. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been on a recruitment campaign for his 2021 campaign.

Last weekend Museveni unveiled the king of the ghetto rastafarian Mark Bugembe aka Buchaman at Kibuye and decorated him as his presidential envoy for the ghetto. During the same meeting, Museveni bestowed on Catherine Kusasira the office of Senior Presidential Advisor for Kampala.

On Wednesday, he helped distressed artist and BET award winner Eddy Kenzo to forget his troubles over his lost love Rema Namakula with a warm handshake. And just before you were about to take another breath, than you saw a flashy front page of the new vision where foul-mouthed lady Full figure aka Nakanguubi shaking hands with Museveni at State House Nakasero.

Make no mistake to think that Museveni has any particular liking for these artists or that he’s trying to book them for his possible concert as a member of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) a group he joined recently. Indeed as some have questioned, where has he been all along before H.E Bobi Wine emerged to start shaking his presidency?

This goes to confirm that the real person musicians have to thank for their current happiness is none other than Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine.

And make no mistake that these guys simply stop at shaking hands. Judgding by the sudden change in the tone of their political comments, their bread is buttered with yellow.

To use Dr. Kizza Besigye’s words, had it not been for Kyagulanyi to shake the tree, the musician s would have stopped at smelling the food than be invited to the eating table.

So you have now got the strategy, Museveni rewards his real or imagined competitors than his loyal supporters, if you want to prove this, ask the people of Luweero or Edward Ssekabanja, who was until recently languished in poverty and footed to radio stations to represent NRM on political talk shows at no pay.
