Over 500 participants from Uganda and Tanzania will benefit from the first Tanzania-Uganda business forum that will take place between 4th and 5th September 2019 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center in Tanzania, Dr. Philemon Mateke, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, has revealed.
During the official launch that took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs on July 10, Mateke said that the forum will help both countries since Uganda and Tanzania enjoy cordial relations and strong historical bonds.
“The two governments have created an enabling climate for trade. If you don’t trade with each other don’t blame your government because there is peace, infrastructures and so on,” he said.
He added: “This will create an enabling platform where both communities shall meet and create sustainable development, share experiences, create business, and identify opportunities and challenges of the trade.”
The forum will involve presentations and discussions about how best to exploit investment opportunities between the two states.
The forum will be organized by the Uganda High Commission in Dare-es-Salaam in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda and the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation under the theme.
The theme of the event is: Promoting bilateral trade and investment for growth and sustainable development.
Isaac Ssebulime, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the forum will be attended by Cabinet ministers, government departments, businessmen, analysts, economists, legal experts, international organizations, multinational agencies, development partners and leading regional media houses.
