June 5th, Uganda  joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Environment Day Celebrations (WED). The 2019 celebrations that will run under the theme “Fight Air Pollution to Protect Human Health and Environment” will take place in Moroto District at Naitakwae Grounds.

This year’s WED comes exactly one year ever since the team from Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green together with National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) visited Mable district and planted fruit trees with the pupils of Nkokonjeru primary school to mark last year’s world environment  day.

According to the Founder of Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green Joseph Masembe said on their way to Moroto where they joined the celebration, they passed at Nkokonjeru Primary school and it was with great pleasure to find the seedlings had grown to healthy young trees and that the school management took an initiative to plant more trees.

Some of the activities to mark this year’s World Environment Day celebration will include Tree planting and restoration activities, Exhibitions of environmentally friendly activities and products, National Environment Awards, Children’s drama and drawing competitions, Countrywide clean-up activities will be undertaken in Moroto and other districts.
