Recently the Electoral commission launched the 2021 electoral roadmap which will cost approximately 900billion Ugandan shillings. However, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)2016 Presidential candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye has alleged that the map is meant to divert people’s attention from his proclaimed victory in the 2016 presidential elections
While addressing the media at his home in Kasangati Wakiso district Besigye who was accompanied by the FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, said President Museveni has tried many times to divert people’s minds from the 2016 elections with creating different scenarios like the Togikwatako and now through the Electoral commission as he launched the electoral roadmap for 2021 which is unnecessary by now.
“Museveni is doing each and every thing to divert people’s minds and our efforts to claim our grabbed victory by creating a number of unnecessary things like Age limit and now it is the electoral Roadmap for 2021”. said Besigye.
Besigye also stressed that there are many pending Electoral cases ranging from 2021 General Elections not forgetting the Age limit Togikwatako case which still in the Supreme Court.
“it is useless and unnecessary to launch a roadmap early in 2018 even where we are having unfinished cases resulting from the 2016 General Elections, the age limit case is still in the supreme court you never know it may rule for the members of parliament be awarded 7 years what will the electoral commission do will it change the Roadmap” said Besigye.
Besigye in his remarks called for an organized, united and committed opposition by 2019 as it will be a year for “liberating Uganda.’
“I call upon the opposition to be united organized and committed as we rescue and liberate our country come 2019 the regime has to return our 2016 General elections victory”. Said Besigye
