Chaos as Ugandans votes LC1
On Tuesday this week, chaos and violence dominated the Local Council 1 polls in different parts of the country. Out of the 60, 801 villages, 663 of them held by-elections on Wednesday due to cancellations as a result of violence.

Lt. Gen. Gutti ranked to General to try Kayihura
Lieutenant General Andrew Gutti was this week sworn again as the Chairman of the Military Tribunal. As such he is in position to try the former Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura, who was recently arrested by Uganda Peoples Defense Forces last week in his home in Lyantonde District and detained in Makindye military barracks.

Mobile Money media tax cut by half
Following the Mobile Money boycott by users countrywide, President Yoweri Museveni, using his social media platform, said that the Mobile Money tax had been reduced from one percent 0.5%. Museveni however insisted that the social media tax is to be paid by all social media users.

94th Cooperatives Day celebrated
Last Saturday, Uganda celebrated the International Day of cooperatives in Jinja district. The major celebrations were led by the Minister of trade, industry and commerce Ms Amelia Kyambade and aimed at supporting cooperative societies like Banyankore-kweterana, Bugisu cooperative union.

Nambooze finally gets to India
Finally, Parliament approved all the money to clear the Mukono Municipality Woman M P, Betty Nambooze, to go to India for medication. This was after the Mulago Hospital Executive Director, Dr. Byaruhanga Baterena, wrote to the Ministry of Health requesting for the release of Nambooze to get specialized treatment.

DP vows to struggle for the country
In their struggle to defeat the ruling NRM Government, the Democratic Party (DP), has vowed to come to power, even before the 2021 presidential elections. It hopes to do this in what it calls People’s Power.

Bye-bye World Cup, Giants go mourning
The 2018 Russia World Cup has left almost all the giant footballing countries mourning following their surprise exit without making it even to the semi-finals.
Germany was the first to go in group stages followed by Portugal, Argentina and Spain in the Round of 16. Brazil departed at the quarter finals after being beaten 2-1 by Belgium the underdogs. On Wednesday this week the England got eliminated by Croatia. The fnal match is going to be between Croatia and France on Sunday July 15 2018
