Parliament of Uganda will on Monday December 14 hold a special sitting in honour of the late Woman MP of Bukomansimbi district who died after a fetal road accident along Kampala-Masaka road.

Police said the tragic accident that claimed the life of the youthful MP occurred near Buwama, was due to drunken driving. Police spokesperson for Katonga region Philip Mukasa said a driver of a taxi Reg. UAU 822L, that rammed into Namaganda’s Mark II salon car, was suspected to have been drunk because the vehicle was found with bear bottles and empty waragi sachets.

Eulogies

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga said Parliament will hold a special sitting in honour of the late legislator. Several leaders have sent condolences upon the demise of Susan Namaganda, who was also the wife of East African Legislator Fred Mukasa Mbidde.

The flag bearer for the Forum for Democratic Change Dr. Kizza Besigye expressed regret upon Namaganda’s death.

Besigye said: “[I am] Deeply saddened by the death of Hon. Susan Namaganda. As Forum for Democratic Change – FDC we offer our condolences and prayers to the family and friends.”

Nominations to be repeated

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission Eng. Badru Kiggundu said EC will hold fresh nominations for Bukomansimbi Woman MP position following the death of Namaganda so as to give a new opportunity to the late’s party DP to field a new person.
