Tuesday, was a normal working day on Bombo Road until a mid-day fire outbreak.

Out of nowhere, one of the buildings, housing a number of businesses including Shanker Enterprises Ltd, which deals in Councilor Whisky, went in flames. Property worth billions of shillings was being turned to ash.

In such incidents most people would first run to safety before thinking about others but Angela, a receptionist at Shanker Enterprises Ltd, chose to save her boss first.

When she realized the building was on fire, she thought of how to save her manager Zeeshan Ali, who was still in his office.

“As we were discussing business with a client, I smelt something. Suddenly fire was everywhere in the building. Everyone was confused. Others had left the building. I immediately looked for my boss to help him escape the fire and I am happy that he escaped unhurt,” Angela said.

Awarding fire hero

Zeeshan awarded Angela Shs 2m for saving his life.

“Without her, maybe I would be somewhere else. I have decided to reward and thank her with a token of appreciation,” Zeeshan said.

Zeeshan said that despite the loss caused by the fire, he was happy that they managed to stay in business.
