The Electoral Commission has set Ushs8m as non-refundable fees for who ever wishes to contest for president of Uganda in the coming general elections.
The Electoral Commission says the Presidential aspirants will also be required to submit the list of 100 supporting signatures from at least 2/3 districts of Uganda not later that September 21, two-weeks ahead of nominations on October 5 and 6.
The guidelines are part of an elaborate programme for nomination of different aspirants wishing to stand for elective positions at different levels starting with Village youths and Persons with Disabilities.
The Vice chairman of the Electoral Commission Joseph Biribonwa said nominations of village youth, PWDs and Older Persons will start from August 27 to September 10, 2015.
The nomination of Presidential aspirants will be followed by those of District chairpersons and Councillors on November 16 – 20.
EC has however warned presidential aspirants not to ferry crowds to Kampala for fear of disrupting business in Kampala.
“We ask aspirants to come with not more than 3 people to avoid traffic at Electoral commission, ” Biribonwa added
The nomination of MPs will happen last between December 2nd and 3rd Apart from presidential nominations, all other aspirants will take place at their respective administrative locations.
Meanwhile, EC says that it is ill-prepared to organise polls for Ugandans living in the Diaspora despite the availability of a law allowing for Ugandans to vote from outside Uganda’s borders.

Biribonwa remarked as well that the display of the National Voters register came to an end on August 11.
