The NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) is expected to meet Thursday to discuss matters pertaining to the current state of the party.

The meeting, according to sources, was summoned by the party’s embattled Secretary General, Amama Mbabazi on the orders of NRM chairman – President Museveni.

State House Entebbe will host the party’s highest decision making body and key among points of discussion, according to close sources, will be the party’s registers which Mbabazi has allegedly refused to handover.

In 2010 Nina, Mbabazi’s daughter compiled the registers but has since refused to hand them over to the party, saying NRM must first pay a Shs3b debt, which she borrowed to compile the registers.

Recently the Observer said Nina Mbabazi had in 2010 borrowed Shs400m from a loan shark to compile the registers but the money, which has never been paid has since accumulated to more than Shs3b.

President Museveni last month sacked Mbabazi as his prime minister but no clear reason was given for his sacking. He was replaced by Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.

However, analysts say Mbabazi was sacked for showing interest in the presidency.

The sacking, on September 18, confirmed rumours which had for long suggested a breakdown of relations between President Museveni and Mbabazi.

The meeting, sources say will also discuss allegations that Mbabazi is promoting indiscipline in the party.

Yesterday members of the NRM youth League said they had petitioned CEC, demanding for the dismissal of Mbabazi from the Secretary General job on grounds of indiscipline and undermining the party’s chairman.

The youth claim Mbabazi has been mobilising across the country as he prepares to stand against President Museveni.

However, Mbabazi continues to deny allegations which claim he is warming to stand against President Museveni come 2016.

Uganda, will in 2016 be holding General elections to elect the president, MPs and district chairperson among others.

Details also show the party’s disciplinary committee might soon summon Mbabazi to explain allegations of indiscipline leveled against him.

Members of the youth league Wednesday told journalists they had petitioned CEC to reign in on Mbabazi’s indiscipline.

On Wednesday NTV quoted Mr Ofwono Opondo, the NRM deputy spokesman saying CEC had received the petition and would soon decide on how it should proceed on the matter.

The youth join a chorus of other NRM leaders who have publically demanded for Mbabazi’s dismissal from the Secretary General job, saying he nolonger has the moral authority to sit on the party’s highest organ.

Key among them is Mike Mukula the NRM vice chairman for eastern and Soroti Municipality MP.

Early in Feb NRM Members of Parliament, while attending a caucus meeting in Kyankwanzi District ring fenced President Museveni as the sole party presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.
