Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) this week joined the rest of the world to celebrate the global aviation week at the stake holder’s engagement breakfast.
The event took place at Mestil hotel Nsambya on December 4, 2019 and the theme of this year’s event was “sustainable for commercial management of airlines” in a complex, dynamic and economic environment.
The theme gives an insight on how difficult it is to manage an airline with the very high investment and fixed costs.
UCAA also chose to partner with prime media in launching the “Nnyonyi magazine” which will feature issues in the aviation.
While addressing the media, Chairman Board of director’s Aviation Mike Ndawula stated that aviation calls for regular activities from stake holders which are aimed at enhancing efficiency in service provision.
“Airline business is known for high competition, capital intensive low margin effect by factors which can cause havoc.”
“This partnership will help advertise aviation more because government gave us the responsibility to ensure that we market air transport as the fastest and safest means of transport”
The Chairperson board of director’s prime media network Warren Namara thanked the aviation for allowing them to advertise with them.
“We conferred with UCAA and at prime media we are delighted to add an element to the public not only digital but also with print.”
“Prime found it calm to offer a platform that will advertise the aviation and all its activities, we will ensure that we always provide a copy of the magazine to passengers at all times.”
Among the different activities that have been on-going are, hoisting of the ICAO flag at the source of the Nile and the aviation run that took place at the mayor’s gardens.
Through aviation’s hard work UCAA has won awards like ICAO council president’s certificate in September at the 40th session and the going global award for best government agency of the year by the international council in New York.
Aviation has also managed introduce E- gates, to complete the expansion of the passenger terminal, building more room for annual and departure, improved airspace management and flight procedure designs for EIA and reconstruction of the aircraft parking aprons 4&6.
However UCAA has among other initiatives presented business cases to a number of world class Airlines seeking to woo them to fly to Uganda. ICAO recognises Uganda for being compliant with the security standards.
