Ugandans are known for their love of music. It is not surprising therefore to see that the organisers of the 2nd Arts and Culture Festival that Opens on Friday November 1, have placed emphasis on the music aspect of the festival.
Daniel Kazibwe, who has been keeping a low profile since losing his bid for Kampala Lord Mayor in 2016 to Lawyer Hajj Erias Lukwago, is rumoured to be plotting a major comeback into the entertainment industry.
RaggaDee is famed for his unique and danceable tunes such as Ndigida Ndigida, Kankukube Empeta and Koona Endongo among many others.
After disappearing from the public’s eye for a while, the Grandfather of African Ragga Music in Uganda, aptly named Ragga Dee is set to appear on stage at the 2nd Annual Arts and Culture Festival as the main performer.
RaggaDee, real Names Daniel Kazibwe is a strong NRM mobiliser and his choice perfectly fits into government protocol.
The 2nd Annual Art and Culture festival will be held at National Theater from November 1 to 3, 2019 under the theme: “Culture for Sustainable Tourism.”
The festival is aimed at showcasing Uganda’s rich cultural diversity which will also link culture to tourism which resonates with UNCC’S mission of promoting and popularizing Ugandan culture locally and globally.
Besides RaggaDee, organizers have lined up a number of attractive performances including from the legendary Afrigo Band, New kid on the block and guita maestro Kenneth Mugabi, ex-Afrigo dancer-turned-musician Sarah Nadigire, Ssali Muserebende, Annet Nandujja among others.
And UNCC’s Executive Director Francis Peter Ojede wants even more artists to be given a chance. He has encouraged all other interested musicians to take part in the festival.
In step with modern trends, Ojede says that a day ticket of UGX5000 can be obtained at www.uncc.co.ug instead of buying them at the national Theatre.
The festival has several other features including visual art exhibitions, a symposium, live stage plays among others.
