I heard my boss in a hot argument with one of the workers at the company. My boss is such a high profile gentleman and he is not the type that would raise his voice. Unfortunately, it was not the case this time.
He vehemently protested against his worker’s statement. This drew my intention and I got closer to the arguing duo. Robert, a worker at the company, had said that he has the ugliest housemaid at this home.
Our boss refused to believe this statement saying that it’s him (the boss) who has the ugliest maid. So it was an argument on who had the ugliest maid. I laughed at the two gentlemen who didn’t know what they were talking about. At least they don’t know that it’s me who has a monster for a maid. In fact my maid can act a horror without a mask. I think you now know what I’m talking about.
There are about two jobs I know where you should hire only ugly girls. The first is your husband’s secretary. I think it should be a commonly accepted social practice that all women are allowed to interview and hire their husbands’ office staff particularly the secretary.
The second job is that of a housemaid. I was the fascinated by the story that Saudi wives will not allow housemaids from Morocco and Chile into their homes. And if their husbands want maids from Chile or Morocco, the wives must first see the maids before accepting them.
It is believed that maids from these countries are beautiful and can easily charm and seduce men away from their wives. Could this be the same reason why our Ugandan wives usually choose underaged and ugly maids?
Women are smarter by basic instinct and by what we have to do to multitask at home and at work. My mother did that 40 years ago, but it wasn’t called multitasking or stress back then. She had a job, two kids and the meals to make with no cook or maid.
My father would come home every day and expect lunch. That’s all gone. Today’s busy couples have no option but to find house helpers or maids to do all that domestic work. Today maids hold central positions in our lives; they clean the house, do the laundries, lay our beds, wash dishes, cook food, take kids to school, and take care of the sick members of the family.
Women have delegated every task to the maids apart from eating, going to the toilet and making love with their husbands. If only women could go the extra mile to allow maids sleep with their husbands, huh….
But being a maid is not a death sentence. There are many important people today who were maids or children of maids. A friend recently confessed that his grandmother was a maid.
In his own words he said ” My grandmother spent her whole life working as a maid, a cook and a babysitter, barely scraping by, but still working hard to give my mother, her only child, a chance in life, so that my mother could give my brother and me an even better one”.
