A Kampala University student was last week crowned Best film maker as he bagged the best student film accolade in the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) annual Film Festival
Commonly known as Bellion Gingn in the movie industry, Kisakye David scooped the award after his movie “African Child” was named the best on the award night.
Kisakye told The Sunrise that he is inspired by the plight of street children especially those who engage in painting and how society views them.
The movie rotates around a lone character Dissan Kigozi who is a street child painter who sets out to prove that despite the fact that many despise him, he is a talented boy who sets out to earn a living from the harsh streets.
The official jury of the 2015 Uganda Film Festival convened 25th-27th August 2015 in Kampala Uganda to determine winners in the various categories of the nominations list announced several weeks ago.
After a rigorous review and professional consideration of the cinematic merits of these nominated films and the strategic objectives of the Uganda Film Festival the jury came to a unanimous decision and announced the following winners in each category
*BEST STUDENT FILM:

*BEST SHORT FILM:
Winner: “WALK WITH ME”
*BEST ANIMATION FILM:
Winner:”CHIMBODA”
*BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM:
Winner: “HALF A DOLLAR”
*BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Winner: NANZIRI FAUSTA (The Tailor)
*BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Winner: MICHAEL WAWUYO (Boda Boda Thieves)
*BEST ACTRESS:
Co- Winners: (Ex aequo)
FARIDAH KUTEESA FARSHEE (House Arrest)
