Forget about the old stereo type that affixes the Acholi people from Northern Uganda to farming and security realms, Jackie Akello is a proud Acholi girl who is trying to re-compose her lifestyle as a youth by finding a niche in Music and fashion.
Akello who unveiled her talent two years ago has recorded a couple of Afro-Acholi Ballads that saw her rise to stardom
In her early twenties, Akello has performed with several musicians who include Lillian Mbabazi as her back-up singer in a couple of songs that include ‘Vitamin’ among others.
She has also worked on a few projects with Maurice Kirya and she is the main character in Kirya’s famed video Busabaala as Sylvia. She has also worked with names like Suzan Kerunen and Myco Ouma.
Besides music, Akello happens to be a self made Fashionsta designed by top city fashion House Zirian Miss Fix It. She loves “Kitengi” like attires and Afro- fabrics.
“My Designer is Zirian Miss Fix It and all my attires are designed by Zirian” Akello says.
Akello is working on her new duet called “Samaanya” with gospel icon Levixon.
This budding star does her Music with Janzi Band at zone 7 in Bugoloobi and every Friday at Pyramids in Kampala
