One of Uganda’s youngest musicians Emmanuel Mayanja Hummertone popularly known as AK47 passed away last night in a bar but the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed.

There are conflicting reports surrounding the death of AK47, while others say he simply died from cocaine abuse.

According to Kabalagala police criminal investigations officer Nusulah Kemigisha, AK47 could have died from internal bleeding because his body was found with bruises on the chest.

She reportedly said: “We suspected foul play after realizing the body had bruises on the chest and we decided to close the bar as investigations take shape.”

However, Diamond Oscar, who is said to have been with the deceased at Dejavu, said AK47 fell in the bathroom where he had gone to ease himself.

“We were called by one of the bouncers who told us that our friend had fallen and collapsed in the wash rooms,” he said. “We tried to save him but he was not responding.

So we rushed him to Rock pharmacy, but we were advised to take him to Nsambya hospital for an X-ray,” he added.

The late singer’s manager, Robert Nkuke, said AK47 was found bleeding in the bar’s bathroom at around 8pm and rushed to Nsambya Hospital before he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body has been taken to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem after which he is expected to be taken to National Theater for viewing.

AK47 was a member of the Team No Sleep Music Crew that was formed by Radio & Weasle’s breakaway manager Jeff Kiwanuka. Unconfirmed reports indicate he is survived by three children including a set of twins that is yet to make six months.
