Kenzo said : “I dedicate this award to all my fans, to all my people who know the struggle. My name is Eddie Kenzo a very strong boy, street kid and ghetto man working hard to make a big impression.  I dedicate this to all the East African people, thank you so much for the support.”

Musician Eddy Kenzo returned today after a long time out of the country, business was paralysed at Entebbe International Airport as funs went to welcome him.

Fans waited at the airport for their man with a lot of enthusiasm.

Kenzo, who has been on a tour in the US, jeted in at about 2:00 pm.

Kenzo who brought the first ever BET Award to Uganda from the United States, this time brought back an Award from Columbia which he said he dedicated to his fans in the East African region.

Kenzo said : “I dedicate this award to all my fans, to all my people who know the struggle. My name is Eddie Kenzo a very strong boy, street kid and ghetto man but working hard to make a big impression.  I dedicate this to all the East African people, thank you so much for the support.”

As expected, his fans started flocking the airport as early as 10:00 am to receive their man with many wearing labelled shirts having words like “I stand with  Kenzo the Ssemyekozo, the King is back and Uganda’s biggest export.”

No sooner had he left the airport than rumour broke out that some Bodaboda cyclists, also Kenzo’s supporters, had been arrested by the police.

Kawempe Divison Councillor, Muhammad Ssegirinya protested the arrest saying that the action was not called for.

“These people (cyclists) are here to celebrate Kenzo’s return, they are happy but their motorcycles have been confiscated. Is it a crime to be happy in Uganda?”

“We are not going anywere until our fans are released.” People vowed in protest of their arrested friends

The police finally begged Kenzo to clear the way so that traffic could continue to flow. This Kenzo agreed to after the police promosied that they were going to verify about the arrests.

Musicians like Full Figure, Kalifah Aganaga, Victor Kamenyo and politicians like Mohammed Ssegirinya were seen at the airport awaiting Kenzo’s return.

Kenzo has lately been in the local news for his row with outspoken Muslim clergy, Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte following the latter’s stinging comments at the singer’s ex-girlfriend (Rema Namakula)’s traditional wedding ceremony. Kenzo was incensed by Muzaata  when the latter insinuated that young men who want to marry women who are like their mothers should go and marry their mothers kind of condemning Kenzo for not having mmarried Rema with whom he has a child.
