Once a wise man stated ‘desperate calls call for desperate measures.’ Well, the performers from different entertaining groups in Uganda clearly confirmed this saying when they all responded to their meeting that was held at Jahaz peer in Munyonyo on Thursday.
The meeting was held for artistes to openly share their opinions on the suggested laws that are yet to be imposed on them by the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.
Chaired by John Ssegawa, the gathering saw the presence of Sarah Zawedde, Clarisa Nabulime, Mesachie Semakula, Levixone, Hannington Bugingo, Dr. Tee, Dr. Hilderman, Ronald Mayinja , Musa Kavuma, Mary Bata, Eddy Kenzo, Lyto Boss, Nubian Li, Wycliff Luyombya, Rena Nalumansi, Justine Buxx, Hanson Baliluno, Manager Andy, Tip swizy, Roden Y, Big eye, Geoffrey Lutaaya, Lydia Jasmine, Big Trill, Fassie David Lutalo together with Norman Mbabazi of Busingye and company advocates and Sylivia Mbabazi Busingye their consultant.
The artistes would like clarification on why they fall under the Ministry of culture. They also wish to know the basis of the proposed laws and why they were represented by a wrong group of individuals.

Dr. Hilderman clearly opposed the draft claiming their representatives presented personal opinions.
Catherine Kusasira one of the very few artists close to the president of Uganda and also a member of the new committee said she has no problem with some laws especially the one that emphasizes artistes to present their content to the committee before releasing it to the public.
When asked on whether they feel that the laws are backed by political gains.
John Ssegawa , the chairperson for the representing committee revealed that he does not see any element of politics in the proposed laws.
however, Lydia Jasmine believes there is a possibility for the laws to be politically influenced since last year, (2018) so more politics in the entertainment industry and artistes desire to join politics.
