When Minister for Culture, Labor and Social Development Peace Mutuuzo presented proposed laws, The entertainment fraternity was left in chaos with many wondering what inspired the proposal.
The draft not only spotted offences but also proposed penalties for the stated offences.
However, during a meeting artiste shared at Jahaz peer in Munyonyo, artistes from different categories expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed laws saying it wasn’t democratic and whoever claims to have represented them, he or she lacked enough knowledge and expressed his or her personal opinion.
With so much discontent, Performers volunteered to lead others in the struggle against the prosed laws and oppression from the Federation of Performing Artistes committee with leaders they believe have overstayed in power.
The interim committee is fronted by John Ssegawa and Dr. Tee as his vice. Wycliff Luyombya as their secretary, Hannington Bugingo as their spokesperson, Hajj Kavuma as their treasurer together with Mbabazi Busingye Sylivia as their consultant and Norman Mbabazi as their legal expert.
