I am not promoting tribal sentiments but I think it’s a high time the Buganda Kingdom tried to difuse the tension which has been simmering at Kampala Capital City Authority for several years.
We all know that the Katikkiro of Buganda is an administrator and can therefore mediate on issues considered political.
However, the last five years have seen a battle between Musisi and Lukwago which conflict is not about to end.
One would rightly ask why I am dragging the Katikkiro into this?
But I want the Baganda to take a leaf from their Bakiga friends from Rukungiri. In the year 2000, the sons of the soil came out and petitioned President Museveni after which he softened and thus the case was resolved.
Other regions always engage their prominent sons when a son of the soil has a problem. In Buganda we have Katikkiro who can diffuse conflicts if he so decided why doesn’t he then call these two and help them iron out their differences
The fact is that the two warring foes Jennifer and Lukwago are Baganda from prominent clans. They both have very important roles to play in the development of Buganda, Uganda and are role models for Buganda’s children. Why then shouldn’t the Katikkiro diffuse this conflict.
In the Muslim community when there is a disagreement, Prince Kassim Nakibinge, comes out and helps.
So since our Kabaka is not allowed to be partisan then I request Katikkiro Peter Mayiga to come out and do something about his two people
