Germany's Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier set for Uganda

The Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, members of the civil society as well two presidential contenders Dr. Kizza Besigye and Amama Mbabazi.

According to the official website of the Germany Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Steinmeier’s visit to Uganda will focus on regional security and stability issues. Besides Uganda’s role as a peace maker in the region through supporting peace operations in South Sudan and Somalia, Uganda is considered a strategic partner especially in the growing war against terrorism.

A statement from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany indicates that Dr. Steinmeier, who will be accompanied by Members of Parliament and representatives of German business community will meet with President Yoweri Museveni and other senior government officials.

On Saturday, Dr. Steinmeier will participate in a Panel discussion at Makerere University Main Hall on the topic: “Population Growth: Chance or Curse for Education and Economy? The public debate will start at 4:30PM.
