African Child Matter (ACM) in partnership with Woman of valor, both Non government organizations with ACM located at 1st Street Industrial area, Kampala has launched a zero hunger campaign.
Zero hunger is a campaign through which the organization will provide basic needs like food to children of deformities especially those suffering from hydrocephalus disease within the areas of Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso districts.
The campaign started in Kampala, Kireka, Mbuya, Wandegeya and Nansana, the locations where most children getting treatment at Mulago referral hospital are located.
According to statistics used by ACM but we’re carried out by United Nations (UN), the world population in Africa shows children as the biggest percentage with 60% yet this population has the least access to basic needs of life.
Team leaders from the organization use local leaders and village health teams to do surveys at the ground level.
A survey carried out in June found that over one hundred children suffering from hydrocephalus disease have been identified in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts.
“After Pamela Nagawa, the founder of the organization made a survey through traveling to both African and European countries, one of the deformities she saw is that children in Uganda especially the disabled don’t have access to Education and the few who have access get the kind of education that is more of theory and lack that which emphasizes critical thinking.” Said Rachel Ajal one of ACM members.
