The Rector of the Islamic university in Uganda Dr. Ahmed Kaweesa Ssengedo has advised students to avoid bad practises like fornication, Alcoholism, theft and examination mal practises if they are to succeed in their studies.
Ssengedo noted that immoral practises like fornication end up into unwanted pregnancies which result into expulsion of such students from the university blocking their journey of success in education.
“If you admire each other here at IUIU, you are free to go to the Dawah department and legalise your relationship other than fornicating which is totally against the culture of Islam and IUIU” he said
He made these remarks while officiating the admission ceremony of new students at the Islamic University in Uganda which took place at the main campus in Mbale on Friday last week.
“Students who will engage in bad acts which are against the university rules and regulation will be discontinued once caught”
Ssengedo noted that over 1638 students were admitted this year which according to him is a great achievement in the university compared to recent admissions.
He also called upon students to embrace the University programme if they are to actualise their dreams that can accelerate the economic transformation of the University and Uganda
“I urge you to be good ambassadors of the University and role models in your respective faculties and communities by exercising a high sense of integrity and moral values you acquire from here” he said
The Academic Registrar, Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar also advised students to have integrity and honesty in order to gain success with their career endeavours.
“Remember that your behaviour and conduct in terms of integrity, honesty and hard work are the drivers to your career success” she said.
