Vivian Tendo is one of the young female artistes established bigger musicians should keep a good eye on. With only a year in the industry, Tendo is signed under Route Entertainment of the famous song writer Yesse Oman Rafiki. Her music is highly recognized and she is the voice behind the famous Hajjat wa Hajji song.

The Onyango star is a third year student at Kyambogo University pursuing a Bachelors degree in Music and Literature. She had a one on one with The Sunrise’ Fahad Kasibante.

Qn.   How did you join Route Entertainment?

A.  I did a cover song, sent it to Yesse and waited for his response. After route entertainment was started, Yesse invited me. That is how I joined.

Qn.  Rumour has it that you were Sharon Peyton’s replacement.

A.  I wasn’t anyone’s replacement because both of us were at route at the same time before she later left.

Qn.    Are the two of you beefing because she refers to you as a very “local” artiste?

A.  Sharon and I are not beefing so I don’t know why she says what she says. You should keep that question for her instead.

Qn.    Why haven’t you released songs composed by you yet you are a music student?

A.  Much as I have my own songs, my manager is my favourite writer and I am blessed with the opportunity of having better composers writing for me.

Qn.    Barely a year and you are a darling, what makes you stand out?

A.  First of all it is luck, associating with professional and experienced management and having a good character has done it for me.

Qn.    Are you in a relationship?

A.  No, I still have many things to do. My career is just starting and it needs more of my time than anything else.

Qn.    Would you date a fellow artiste?

A.  No way, I don’t like my relationship in the limelight so I wouldn’t really date a celebrity.

Qn.     Where does a single lady get the inspiration for Hajjat wa Hajj?

A.   It is real life. Women today share a man willingly.

Qn.  Would you share a man?

A.    I believe in it by the way because there are circumstances. There are circumstances we cannot change. It is hard finding a single man out there you know.
