Suspected security operatives on Saturday afternoon arrested Andrew Mukasa the proprietor of Bajjo events as he was addressing the media while at Centenary Park in Kampala.
Bajjo, together with Abby Musinguzi aka Abitex were briefing the media on their plann to organise a marathon aimed at raising funds for musician turned politician Bobi Wine who is currently banned from holding music shows because of his political work.
Our reporter who was at the scene witnessed the arrest. It all happened when Mukasa was doing an interview with a television journalist, when two men dressed in military fatigue similar to that of the Special Forces Command (SFC) emerged at the scene and whisked him away.
Our journalist narrates:
“When we tried to follow up to find the cause of the areest, another operative dressed in casual attire pointed a gun at us and we had to withdraw,” says Busein Samiru.
Bajjo was later forced into a waiting van registration number UAT 511C which sped off.
Abtex later told the journalists present that Bajjo may have been arrested because of the video that he recorded recently and circulated on his social media platforms.
“If they were to arrest him because of this press conference even me I would have been taken but I think it is because of that video, he said
Abtex condemned the brutal arrest of his colleague and added that they will not stop fighting for Bobi wine to come back on stage.
“I want to tell President Museveni that when you hear a death announcement on radio even if you kick and throw the radio set away you will still go and bury that person. Arresting Bajjo will not stop us from advocating for Bobi Wine to get back on stage,” he added
He is not with us-Police
When contacted via telephone, Luke Oweyisigire the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson said that they didn’t arrest Bajjo.
“I have tried to call the DPC but he said that he doesn’t have Bajjo and I am also currently consulting to find out exactly where he is,” Oweyisigire said
