Renowned motivational and inspirational speaker and Muslim scholar Sheikh Ismail Ibn Musa Menk  alias Mufti Menk’s visit to Uganda has been confirmed. The highlight of Mufti Menk’s visit will be a major gathering at Namboole stadium on June 23.

His visit and program was confirmed by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council during Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje’s Iftar dinner held recently at hotel Africana.

Kiwanuka Kizili, a member of the Menk technical team disclosed that the major purpose of his coming to Uganda is to build bridges among the Muslim community as there are many differences within the Muslim fraternity in Uganda.

Mufti Menk is set to arrive on Thursday June 20,  and is expected to have an interaction with the President shortly after his arrival.

On Friday 21st June, Mufti Menk is expected to meet Mufti Sheik Ramadhan Mubajje and thereafter, he read the Kutubha and lead the Juma prayers at Old Kampala Mosque.

On Friday evening, Mufti Menk will be at hotel Africana where a corporate dinner has been organized in his honour.  On the same day, he is set to appear on NTV.

On Saturday June 22 Mufti Menk together with Sheik  Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje is set to meet with the members of the inter-religious council.

On Sunday 23, Mufti Menk is set to visit the Musa Orphanage center and later at 1:00pm, the Mega event will start at Namboole stadium.

Kizili said that Mufti Menk’s coming will inspire and give hope to young Muslims who lack motivation in life. “Our young people lack hope and need to be motivated. We hope having an inspirational figure coming to Uganda will lift their spirits and give them positivity in life,” Kizili said.

The technical committee also revealed that they are organizing and targeting an audience of 80,000 for the main event at Namboole stadium which is scheduled for Sunday June 23rd.

Mufti Menk was born on June 27, 1975 in Harare Zimbabwe. He is the Muslim cleric and Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe.

Menk has been credited as one of the 500 most influential Muslim scholars  in the world by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic thought in Jordan in 2013, 2014 and 2017. In 2001, he received  a first prize for presenting his research on Effects of the Media on Islamic Dawah at the Africa Dawah Committee in Saudi Arabia.
