Bishop made this call while addressing the press ahead of this year’s celebrations at the Anglican shrine in Namugongo on Friday this week. “carry with you enough money including transport so that you don’t get hardship while going back after the prayers we have seen synariols where people get stuck here so in order to avoid burdening your relatives, carry your transport that shall take you back” he said.

He also urged those who shall use foots to first seek for medical tests before they start the journey. “first taste for your health before you begin moving we want you when you are alive here we shall establish tents that will be providing medication but before you set off seek for medical”,.
He also called upon pilgrims to stick on the objective of worshiping other than turning that day into a party. “It’s a day we need to totally submit to our order remember we don’t come here to tour we come to worship so don’t again turn the day into a tour” he added. “There is a difference between a tour and pilgrimage” he asserted.
Bishop Katumba further added that this year’s pilgrimage has been organized by a consortium of five dioceses, West Buganda, central Buganda, Mityana, Luweero and Mukono dioceses”.
According to Bishop Katumba, this year’s mass shall be led by the Arch Bishop of Anglican Church of Kenya his grace the most Reverend Johnson Olesa Piti.
Fundraising dinner slated on 17th may
Bishop Katumba said that they still need more money to organize this event and there for call upon all stake holders to come to their rescue. With that case they have organized a fundraising dinner on Saturday 17th May at 5:00 pm in Jevine hotel in Ndeeba near Pope Paul in Kampala as one of the means of raising the funds. “We have not stated the fee for the dinner assuming that one may know the exact amount for that meal so we expect you to pay more with the idea of raising funds to organize the event” “in another strategy of raising funds, we have also come up with a caller tune and goes like this *170*26# and you choose the language of your choice.
Security tightened
Aruku Maruku the assistant commissioner of police said that the security shall be on its peak that day. “I am assuring you that we have done all our best to make sure that things move well that day and there will be peace that day we shall be working together with the traffic police we shall make sure that even those who are walking are safe” he said.
