The 8th edition for East Africa’s performing market started on Wednesday May 1, at Zone7 lounge and bar with sizzling performances from Kwera band from Uganda, Kimera from Uganda and CAC Fusion from Tanzania.
Speaking at the opening of Doadoa festival, Faisal Kiwewa, the organization’s director said that the purpose for this four days event “1st- 4th May” is to provide a platform for natural talents, professional networking, and joint learning among others.
“The purpose for this market is to create a space for co-learning, have an environment where artistes meet professionals to network, collaborate and see if they can have a chance to organize events together and also perform at festivals that are all around the world.” He said
“Artistes cannot survive on only festivals. They need to explore the world, they need to travel, see spaces, experiences other cultures and know that things are done differently or professionally at other spaces.” Faisal added
Doadoa has seen many festival organizers come in the country deliberately to look for talent they will invite over for performances at their festivals and also give a platform to talented performers to be booked and get programmed for other festivals.

The workshops were held at the Uganda Museum for the music business with key speakers from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, South Africa, Belgium, Norway, UK, Australia, Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya, Botswana, Netherlands and Zimbabwe.
