The Kampala capital city Authority (KCCA) Directorate of Education and social Services has donated Reading Books to Makindye Barracks military Primary school in a move to mark the dear day celebrations that were launched by the Acting Executive Director of KCCA Eng. Andrew Kitaka and the US ambassador Deborah Malac on Monday
The Director of Education and social services KCCA Namuddu Juliet who presided over the handover of reading books to Makindye Barracks military Primary school, said it is part of the activities to mark the Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R) week celebrations which call for dropping everything and only read.
Namuddu donated reading books worth one million from Oasis publishers and encouraged all parents and teachers to get some time and read books for their children
“We are here to mark the dear day celebrations which calls to “drop everything and read only” and am here to read for the children a book that will help them learn and lo9ve to read and urge all parents out there to get some timer and read books for their children”
Namuddu also urged parents if they’re to buy birthday gifts for their children, they should get them nice reading books, phones or tablets containing reading materials among others as it will help improve their reading capacities
The head teacher Makindye Military Barracks Primary school Kamanyire Nabwire thanked the Kampala Capital City Authority Officials for the donation and support they render to the school
“I appreciate KCCA for the donations and the support they render to our school as this helps in the development and performance of our pupils” Said Nabwire.
