For the past week the unprecedented increase of transport fare by the bodaboda riders in Mbale district has paralyzed movements in the town. Some residents have resorted to walking.
The increase of petrol prices from UGX 3750 to UGX 4150 resulted in a 100 percent increase of transport fare for short distances by some riders – from UGX 500 UGX to UGX 1000. There is now chaos in the town between those who increased and those who didn’t.
