Chelsea have presented former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri as their new manager following the sacking of fellow Italian Antonio Conte. The 57-year old signed a three year deal for Chelsea.
Sarri’s arrival has been further boosted by the signing of yet another world class midfielder Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, best known as Jorginho also from Napoli.
In a news conference, Sarri promised “entertaining football” for Chelsea fans. The 59-year-old replaces fellow Italian Antonio Conte, who was sacked on Friday after two years at Stamford Bridge.
“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”
Sarri led Napoli to two second-place finishes in his three seasons in charge of the Serie A team, who named Carlo Ancelotti as his successor in May.
“It is an exciting new period in my career,” said Sarri.
He is the 13th manager at Stanford Bridge since Blues owner Roman Abramovich takeover the club in 2003.
Desppite his replacement in May, Sarri had stayed on Napoli’s payroll.
