Sergio Aguero is close to becoming Manchester City’s greatest goal scorer of all time, and in the shortest time.
Aguero fired three goals yesterday when City thrashed Watford 6-0, and helped Per Guardiola’s men on top of the Premiership with 13 points in just 5 games played. Yesterday’s was the sixth hat-trick for the Argentine since joining City in 2011.
Guardiola praised Aguero, after the striker moved within three goals of the club’s all-time record.
“Hopefully that [the record] will happen very soon, and we can have a big celebration,” said Guardiola.
Ex-England winger Eric Brook, who was at City from 1928-1940, scored his goals in 494 appearances. Aguero has scored his goals in 259 games.
Guardiola added: “He’s a legend, and it’s a part of history in the club. Aguero’s numbers speak for themselves – he is amazing,”
With five goals under his belt this season so far, Aguero’s fantastic form makes him a favourite contender for this year’s English Premiership’s Golden Boot. Ex-Newcastle star Allan Shearer has challenged him to score 30 goals this season.
