Government has on Wednesday extended the ongoing SIM Cards registration and validation exercise putting the deadline on May 19.
In a letter addressed to the Uganda Communications Commission executive director, Prime Minister Ruhakana Ruganda, said government had reviewed the timelines and extended the deadline by more than three week.
“Government has … has taken a decision that the ongoing SIM Card registration exercise be extended to May 19,” the letter signed by Ruganda reads in part.
Yesterday Ruganda had told journalists in Kampala that they would not extend the deadline and would switch of all SIM Cards that would have failed to registered by tomorrow (Thursday April 20).
