Kampala University is set to host the National kickboxing league scheduled for March this year.

Hassan Ssekilime, and it will be a one day’s gala,” Ssekilime said.

According to Kampala University’s kick boxing captain Sharkie Mubiru, the event, will be held at the Kampala university main campus in Ggaba and it will be bankrolled by none other than Haji Badru kateregga, the proprietor of Kampala University.

Explaining the KU’s delay to name the date of the event, Mubiru said that both the University and the federation are yet to hold talks to finalize on the modalities before the actual date will be announced shortly.

“The Federation is okay with the event and we are only waiting for the university to agree on the terms to be observed during the fights,” Mubiru clarified.

According to pundits, UKF’s decision comes as reward to KU’s recent efforts towards the development of Kick boxing which has given rise to a crop of kick boxing stars including Titus Tugume (Rock) and Sharkie Mubiru (the tiger) ready to challenge for honors both locally and at the African continent.

KU participated in the First Asian Martial arts festival where Mubiru Sharkie bagged a gold medal that he won from three fights from Maldives, Nepalese and Afghans fighters on both Knockout and anonymous decisions

Professor Badru Katerega told journals during a press conference recently that Kick boxing is an integral part of KU’s grand talents development plan which he also said is aimed at career development for young people.
